Determination procedure for traction current grid access

The determination procedure initiated by the Federal Network Agency in 2019 to further develop the business processes for traction current grid access was concluded at the end of June 2022 with a determination. The determination ensures the transparency and binding nature of the access rules and improved communication deadlines for all market partners (electricity suppliers, train operating companies, vehicle owners and traction current grid operators). DB Energy and the train operating companies, traction unit owners and other traction current suppliers will now work on this basis to implement the new access rules by July 1, 2026. However, the determination has left some crucial implementation issues unresolved. In order to answer these unresolved questions and to support the implementation of the determination on the part of the market partners, DB Energy has developed a list of implementation questions in conjunction with the train operating companies and associations and is jointly coordinating this with the Federal Network Agency.
