Procurement volume

The procurement volume corresponds to the contractual obligations that DB Group has entered into with suppliers. On subsequent realization, these become capital expenditures or expenses (mainly cost of materials and other operating expenses). The total procurement volume in the first half of 2026 amounted to € 21.3 billion (first half of 2025: € 18.9 billion):

  • Industrial products rose significantly to € 6.0 billion (first half of 2025: € 3.9 billion), driven in part by the second call-off for ICE L trains.
  • The procurement volume for construction and engineering services increased to € 8.7 billion (first half of 2025: € 8.1 billion). This was primarily due to the awarded contracts for the expansion lines Stuttgart — Singen — German / Swiss border and Hanover — Berlin.
  • Third-party services declined slightly to € 5.0 billion (first half of 2025: € 5.2 billion).
  • Cable- and pipe-bound power and fuels declined slightly to € 1.6 billion (first half of 2025: € 1.7 billion).
