Revision of train-path prices for 2026
In a decision dated July 22, 2026, the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur; BNetzA) revised the train-path prices for German rail transport for 2026. The decision is effective for transport services on and after December 14, 2025. Compared to the train-path prices applied to date, the infrastructure utilization fees for regional rail passenger transport have been increased, while the fees for rail freight transport and long-distance rail passenger transport have been reduced. On this basis, this results in claims for repayment by the long-distance rail passenger transport and rail freight transport companies against DB InfraGO and in additional fee burdens for the regional rail passenger transport companies. Within DB Group, the business units affected include DB InfraGO, DB Long-Distance, DB Cargo and DB Regional. Based on existing agreements in the transport contracts between DB Regional and the contracting organizations, DB Group currently expects a significant portion of the additional burdens incurred by DB Regional to be compensated. DB Group expects the revision of the train-path prices to have a significantly positive net effect overall.
