The number of employees in DB Group declined slightly as of June 30, 2026.
- Measures to reduce personnel requirements and headcount as part of the Group transformation had a cross-business unit impact, particularly in the areas of administration and sales. Lower performance at DB Cargo, DB Long-Distance and DB Vehicle Maintenance also had an impact.
- In the Subsidiaries / Other area, the number of employees decreased as a result of the Group transformation at DB AG, DB Services, DB Sales and DB Systel in particular. The decline was also driven by lower intra-Group services, the implementation of the “Fit for the Future” restructuring program at DB Vehicle Maintenance and organizational transfers to DB InfraGO. This was partially offset by an increase at DB Rail Construction, which was largely due to the volume growth resulting from the infrastructure quality initiative.
- The number of employees at DB Cargo decreased. This was mainly due to the measures taken as part of the transformation program.
- The lower number of employees at DB Long-Distance was due to reduced personnel requirements as part of the mid-year timetable change as well as the “restart long-distance transport” restructuring program.
- By contrast, the increase in the number of employees at DB InfraGO was primarily driven by growth in the areas of project management, operations and maintenance, as well as the intensification of construction activity due to the Special Fund for Infrastructure and Climate Neutrality. In addition, the partial integration of DB Real Estate (Subsidiaries / Other) into DB InfraGO AG increased the number of employees.
The share of employees in Germany was unchanged at about 95 %.
