Climate resilience

As an operator of critical infrastructure and as an organization with high land use, we are strongly affected by the current and future impacts of climate change. We are therefore making intensive preparations for increasing extreme weather events and are continuing to develop our climate resilience management strategically and operationally in conjunction with the Federal Ministry for Transport. With its Group-wide resilience management, DB Group is focusing on safer infrastructure, more resilient buildings, more reliable vehicles and protecting our customers and employees from the impact of climate change on rail transport.

In order to increase the resilience of the infrastructure, DB Group has developed a new, climate-change-adapted approach to vegetation control on rail tracks with the “Storm-proof rail” mission statement. The new approach was initially implemented on partial sections during the first half of 2026 as part of the Hamburg — Berlin and Nuremberg — Regensburg corridor modernizations.
