• Further development of the IT landscape: In the first half of 2026, DB Regional continued to further develop its IT landscape with a clear focus on standardization, scalability and closer integration with business processes. In addition to the systematic enhancement of existing digital products, work concentrated on strengthening governance structures and further developing cooperation within DB Group and with the regions.
• Assisted operations monitoring and control: The rollout of the computer-based operations control system (rechnergestützte Betriebsleitsystem; RBL) continued in the first half of 2026, including implementation at additional control centers. Operational coverage and the benefits of the solution in operations are gradually increasing as a result.
• Autonomous local public transport tested in real-world operations: In the first half of 2026, the KIRA pilot project was successfully continued and further expanded in real-world operations. Level 4 autonomous transport operated smoothly in the Offenbach district and in northern Darmstadt; the fleet was expanded from six to eight vehicles. At the same time, work to establish robust operating processes and qualification profiles continued. The conditions for expanding the service were also established.
