Procurement markets
Stronger wage increases are expected in 2026. Driven by the increase in the minimum wage, an average rate of increase of at least 3 % is assumed across all wage groups in Germany. Expected wage trends are an important factor, as personnel costs represent a significant cost component in many procurement markets and can therefore influence future cost trends.
Due to the escalation of the Middle East conflict, producer prices are generally expected to rise significantly in 2026 following a decline in the previous years.
Price trends on the energy markets in particular continue to be significantly influenced by these geopolitical risks. Uncertainty regarding the availability of global energy transport, particularly in connection with the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, is leading to sustained risk premiums. As long as there are no signs of a sustained easing of the Middle East conflict, it must be assumed that the current environment of high prices and increased volatility will continue. DB Group’s procurement portfolio, which includes fixed delivery terms, helps to minimize price increases for 2026.
