Improved security for DB employees
In February 2026, senior representatives from the Federal Government, the Federal states, employee representative bodies and the transport sector agreed on areas of action for a joint Action plan for improved security in rail transport.
Operational employees, the Federal Police and security experts from the business units and Group Security met at seven regional “security workshops” to further develop the security plans in person.
The ban on alcohol across all of DB Group’s about 5,400 stations, which was announced in July 2026, is another important step toward increased security for passengers and employees.
Since May 2026, DB Group, the BMV and the Association of German Transport Companies (Verband Deutscher Verkehrsunternehmen; VDV) have been setting an example for greater consideration, courtesy and respect toward DB employees with the new #mehrachtung campaign. The Group works council also expressly supports this cause.
