Infrastructure
Passenger transport is expected to see modest growth in the second half of 2026. This is expected to be tempered by the continued high level of construction activities, due in part to the corridor modernization projects of the Obertraubling―Passau and Troisdorf―Wiesbaden lines.
In freight transport, a distinction is made between the market level and train-path demand at DB InfraGO. While the volume sold remains under pressure due to declining transport volumes, particularly in heavy freight categories, demand for train-path kilometers may see differing development. Catch-up effects in train-path demand are expected in the second half of 2026.
The number of station stops is also expected to decline slightly across 2026 as a whole. The market share of non-Group railways is expected to see a moderate decline compared to the previous year.
