The freight car fleet in Germany is to be fitted with the latest telematics and sensors by 2020. About 1,000 refitted freight cars are already on the way. To this end, we are investing an amount in the double-digit millions.
The Innovative Freight Car project has begun operational testing. Findings from the project will speed up the use of innovative freight cars that are quieter, more energy-efficient and more cost-effective than the cars currently in use. The project is being implemented by DB Cargo in cooperation with VTGAG on behalf of the BMVI.
Additional features have been added to myRailportal to make it easier to access rail freight transport. Order placement, empty car orders, consignment tracking and billing are automated and fully supported on the portal.
